Adopt-a-Route

Adopt-a-Route

Perfect for corporate teams, church groups and service clubs that can commit to providing Meals-On-Wheels drivers for one route, one day a week for an entire year.

Requirements: Two people weekly to deliver a regular Meals-On-Wheels route. At least one volunteer must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license, own their own vehicle and have current auto insurance.

Hours: 10:30 a.m. until noon

How Adopt-A-Route works:

  • Your organization commits to volunteer one route, one day a week, every week.
  • Every week you send two employees to deliver a route at 10:30 a.m. (One person can do it, but two makes it more fun and is quicker.) The route is the same every week, which enables volunteers to become familiar with the seniors on the route.
  • Deliveries take approximately 1 – 1½ hours from door to door depending on the route you adopt.  There are usually 10 – 12 stops.  We have 14 centers in the Portland Metro area and nine in Clark County.
  • Your organization appoints a team coordinator to schedule volunteers and ensure that the route is covered each week.
