Rita, Elm Court Volunteer
Rita Harvey, a volunteer cook’s assistant at Elm Court Loaves & Fishes Center, joined the crew in February 2010 and has already generously donated 352 hours of her time!
A Portland native, Rita is a former Family Service Advocate with the Headstart Program. She successfully established her own janitorial services business and at one time also owned a local tavern. When she’s not in the Elm Court Center kitchen, Rita says she enjoys walking, camping and spending time with her 12 grandchildren. Rita remarks, “People need more places like this where they can come together and socialize. We provide a hot meal and the opportunity for people to engage in some quality human interaction and to feel like they belong. I wish there were more places like Elm Court Loaves & Fishes Center.”
