Loaves & Fishes Centers could not exist without the help of more than 500 volunteers every weekday. Our volunteers help prepare and serve meals to seniors in 33 different meal sites throughout Multnomah, Washington and Clark counties, as well as deliver nearly 3,000 Meals-On-Wheels to homebound elderly on an average day.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
- Meals-On-Wheels Driver
Make a senior smile! Deliver hot meals in your neighborhood on any day from Monday through Friday. Weekend and holiday delivery is also available through our Weekend / Holiday program.
- Kitchen Support
Help to pack meals in coolers for Meals-On-Wheels drivers. Serve beverages to seniors as they come into a center, set tables, serve lunches, help clean up.
- Administrative Support
Help out by answering phones, preparing mailings and a variety of administrative projects.
- Meals On Two Wheels
"Meals On Two Wheels" is a program designed to promote the use of bicycles for our daily Meals-On-Wheels deliveries. It is part of the daily meal deliveries provided by Loaves & Fishes Centers, The Meals-On-Wheels People.
- Emergency Meals-On-Wheels Drivers
Loaves & Fishes Centers delivers 3,000 hot meals to homebound seniors throughout the metropolitan area every weekday. We depend on volunteers to make those deliveries. Due to a recent change in how background checks are handled for volunteer drivers, we can use ONLY those volunteers who have already undergone the background check. If you have a four-wheel drive vehicle and will be available to help deliver meals to homebound seniors during inclement weather, please complete the background check now and be added to our list of approved inclement weather drivers!
